Every now and then, I go classic!
I do collect vintage fishing tackle, but not only for display. Last week I took my 8 ft Hardy “C.C. de France” cane rod and a Perfect reel dating from the 1930s, on a fishing trip to a small lake, about an hours drive from where I live. It was a beautiful afternoon, warm and quiet. The fish rose to whatever they could find on the surface – both olives, ants and beetles seemed to go down well. Before I left just before 8 pm in the evening, I had landed four good fish – the two better ones weighing almost 3 lbs and close to 2 lbs respectively. Great fun – and the vintage duo performed extremely well, despite my initial casting f… ups :)
